Ishpeming- Alden R. Wilson, age 89 of 1725 Cindy St, Ishpeming, passed away Friday June 8, 2007 at the Marquette General Hospital.
Alden was born October 27, 1917 in Ishpeming to William "Billy" and Olga (Endahl) Wilson. He was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School and a life long area resident. Alden worked for the L.S.& I Railroad for three years prior to working 38 years for the Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company, where he worked as a diamond driller.
Alden was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing on the Great Lakes and loved camping and traveling. He enjoyed spending the winter months in Tucson, AZ where he became an excellent shuffle board player.
Alden is survived by his wife of 62 years, Grace (Johns) Wilson of Ishpeming, 4 children: Kaye (Dan) Mitchell of Republic, Sue (Kevin) Palkki of Negaunee, Rick (Vicki Laituri) Wilson of Gwinn and Debbie (Ed) McNamee of Aiken, SC, 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Alden was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John and a sister June.
Funeral services will be held 3:00p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Scott Lindenberg officiating. Entombment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
Friends may call at the Wesley United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 2:00p.m until the time of service at 3:00p.m.
