Gwinn/Ishpeming- Alan "Babe" G. Sivula, age 79, longtime area resident, passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2022 at UP Health System Marquette while in the loving care of his family and hospital staff.

Alan was born in Ishpeming on August 11, 1942, son of the late William and Aileen (Maatta) Sivula. He attended Negaunee High School graduating with the class of 1961. Following graduation, Alan attended NMU until enlisting in the United States Army. He was stationed in Italy until his honorable discharge. On May 23, 1970, he married Carolyn Lahnanen in Ishpeming. Alan worked for Michigan Bell Telephone for nearly 30 years in installation and repair.

Alan was a former member of the Ishpeming and Negaunee Elks, and the Riverside Club. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing basketball and baseball in his younger years, and spending time and retiring at West Bass Lake in Gwinn.

Alan is survived by his wife Carolyn (Lahnanen) Sivula, 2 children- Janet (Lee) Ringuette, Michael Sivula, sister- Christine (Eric) Prusi, 2 step grandchildren- Nolan and Emma Ringuette, a special Godson- Eric Koski, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also is survived by 2 "granddoggers", Roxy and Winnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Jack Sivula,  in-laws- Donald and Luella Lahnanen and 2 brothers-in-law, Jack and Jim Lahnanen.

Alan's family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Tuesday February 15, 2022 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm with Rev. DJ Thomsen officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the Ishpeming Elks Lodge.
