Obituary

ISHPEMING, MI – Agnes Marie Foster, age 73, of Ishpeming, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 22, 2026, while surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and the compassionate care of UP Home Health and Hospice.

Agnes was born on October 28, 1952, in Marquette, Michigan, to Theodore and Agnes (Anderson) Hokenson. A lifelong resident of Marquette County, she graduated from Bishop Baraga High School and later completed nursing training courses through St. Luke’s Hospital.

She met her future husband, Norman Foster, while he was stationed at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. The couple was united in marriage in 1973 at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Marquette. They made their first home together in Gwinn, where they began raising their family, before eventually settling in Ishpeming.

Agnes was a devoted homemaker who dedicated much of her life to caring for her family and raising her two daughters, Nicole and Brooke. Her thoughtful nature and caring heart touched everyone around her. She was always willing to help others and spent her life taking care of those she loved. Though kind and compassionate, Agnes also possessed a stubborn streak that those closest to her knew well and cherished.

She enjoyed spending time with friends attending rummage sales, and she had a special love for dogs throughout her life. Her beloved dog, Hank, brought her great joy, and she especially enjoyed taking him for walks. In recent years, Agnes’ greatest happiness came from supporting her grandchildren and attending their many activities and events. She also volunteered for many years with the Girl Scouts while her daughters were growing up.

Agnes is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Norman Foster; her daughters, Nicole (Daniel) Holdwick and Brooke Foster; her grandchildren, Jaden (Kayla) Tucker, Jackson Holdwick, and Maxwell Holdwick; and her beloved dog, Hank.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Agnes Hokenson.

In accordance with Agnes’ wishes, cremation will take place, and no public services will be held at this time.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of UP Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during Agnes’ final months.
