Ishpeming – Timothy P. “Bud” Hughes, age 81, of 1575 Glenwood Lane, Ishpeming Twp. passed away on Sunday March 11, 2012 at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming Twp.
Bud was born January 23, 1931 in Ishpeming the son of the late Timothy C. and Dorothy (Webb) Hughes. He was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, class of 1950. Bud went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict serving with the 788th AC&W Squadron out of Waverly Air Force Base. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, Bud returned to Ishpeming. He married Mary DeChambeau on Aug. 22, 1959 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming. Bud worked for the Upper Peninsula Power Co. for 37 years, retiring as a maintenance supervisor in 1992. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. His interests included history, nature and weather, of which he kept daily logs and records. He enjoyed watching Duke Basketball and Notre Dame Football.
Survivors include his wife Mary Hughes of Ishpeming, a daughter Catherine Hughes of Ishpeming, 2 grandchildren – Alec Marin (Katie Sullivan) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Clark Lanczy of Ishpeming, 2 brothers – Jerry (Kay) Hughes of Harbor Springs, MI and Michael Hughes of AZ, a sister Mary Jane (Steve) Coffey of Scottsdale, AZ, Brothers-in-law – Edward (Marge) DeChambeau and Phillip (Gloria) DeChambeau both of Shelby Twp., MI, Joseph (Linda) DeChambeau of Ishpeming and Stephen DeChambeau of Chesterfield, MI, an aunt Pat Hughes of Ishpeming, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Timothy Hughes in 1995.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 6pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming, where a Military Honors service will be conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #380 at 5:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. James Challancin to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Memorial Fund, or the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Bud’s memory.
